SEYCHELLES ISLAND ADVENTURETrip Length: 15-21 days | Land cost: from $2995
Inhabited by humans barely 200 years, cast like shimmering jewels in an ocean that abounds in marine life, the Seychelles may well be the most beautiful islands in the world. They have been called the "Galapagos of the East". Here rare birds and other endemic animals such as the Aldabra Giant Tortoise show little fear of humans and can be approached on foot to within a few feet. Situated in the middle of the western Indian Ocean, the Seychelles are the only granite oceanic islands in the world. This has led to startling rock formations towering over beautiful, powdery white sand beaches. The Seychelles are also home to countless rare plants and trees, including the largest and most astonishing palm on earth, the Coco-de-Mer. The unique flora and fauna of the land is rivaled by that of the sea: some 2500 types of coral and 200 species of fish are found here, making it one of the best snorkeling and scuba diving areas in the world. On this amazing island adventure, you will explore the three main islands of the Seychelles archipelago: Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. Mahe is home to Seychelles' colorful capital, Victoria, as well as its two highest mountain peaks and sixty-eight beaches. On Praslin, you will explore the Valle de Mai, an ancient palm forest where the Coco-de-Mer grows in abundance, and Anse Lazio, considered the best beach in the Seychelles. Nearby Cousin Island nature reserve will introduce you to some of the world's rarest birds and reptiles, and La Digue offers the opportunity to snorkel and swim in a rich marine environment, while enjoying the dramatic granite rock formations that have made this island famous.
