ABOUT TAMU SAFARIS
Founded in 1987 by Costas and Sally Christ, Tamu Safaris is proud that we have been recognized by the New York Times, Washington Post and Educated Traveler for our outstanding safaris to Africa. We are also delighted to have been selected by Conde Nast Traveler, ABC News, Public Broadcasting and Acacia Films as their professional safari company for arranging specialized trips to Africa. Tamu Safaris has also been a founding and active member of such groups as the International Ecotourism Society, Friends of Conservation, East African Wildlife Society, and Wildlife Conservation International, among others. We believe that only through small, customized travel can the negative impact of tourism be prevented. We also believe that ecotourism - responsible travel which promotes the protection of nature and sustains the well-being of local peoples - can help to achieve important conservation goals worldwide. With the growing concerns about the environment the need to understand both the planet that we live on and the people who inhabit it, we have a long-standing dedication to travel that is enjoyable, filled with learning and sensitive to the natural environments that we visit and to the cultures of the peoples we meet along the way. By uniting the excitement of international travel, the joy of a relaxing vacation and the thrill of experiencing pristine nature and learning about diverse cultures, Tamu Safaris provides a unique opportunity to better understand our beautiful planet. In so doing, we commit ourselves to nurturing and protecting the earth so that its natural wonders may flourish for future generations to enjoy as we have.
